Mel's 20th

Mel turned 20 today! *HaPPy BirThDaY my dearest girl!!!* and we dicided to throw her a surprise party at midnight. we went to kimchi grandma for dinner earlier and after that, the couple went for movie (it was apart of our scheme of course (=) and everyone else 'went home'. we gathered again at mel's place around 10.30 to get ready. (PJ had to went down 7 different times to picked up 7 people ==" bad timing but thanks yay PJ) But thank god everything turned out right, and quite a number of people showed up as well XD, despite the fact the fire alarm rang went we tried to light up the sparkles for the 1st time, everything went well =D. Luckily Frida was there to 'dissembled' those two annoying smoke detectors, or else they would have go on forever @_@

i think we don't have any photo of mel 'blowing' the sparkles because we, or only me in particular was too worried that the main smoke detector outside might ring @_@ such as worrier=="

it was actually quite hard but hey, we have full day class on monday so i had to bake the cake a day earlier and keep it in the fridge. it was soft when i took it out from the oven =)

and these are the beautiful roses Mel's mum asked us to buy for her precious princess. actually it was RCV that we should buy but no one, not even the florist know what kind of flower it is and being the not very creative people who know nothing much about flowers, jacq and me decided to get mel roses a.g.a.i.n. oh well, at least the flowers are gorgeous. and it matches the cake well!

so we hang around mel's place for a couple more hours until it passed midnight before everyone else went home. it was a night of great fun. we laughed so badly until we were almost short of breath ;)

okie la, i just wanna boast a bit =P i think the cake was pretty k

i was being all health concious that weekend so i decided to bake a healthy cake full of fruits and antioxidants (anti-aging substances which are perfect for a girl who is turning 20 =p). green apple, carrot and lime, the colours just make me happy

i spent almost an hour chopping the carrot and apple. and i lost a few of my finger...nails while cutting them so next time people, use a shredder.

i decided to use white choc and lemon skin and cherry as granish and the white choc squeeze was paticularly annoying!!! it got clogged so many time i wanna puke blood. i even had to poke the opening with needles every 30 secs to maintain the flow. (suddenly remind me about stephan harrap and the whole blood pressure regulation, lumen and flow are thingy)

but still, it turned out okie~

i was very happy with the outcome but i shall not bake this cake in another 3 makes. the cutting part is definitely NOT FUN! but well, i shall bake some other cakes not involoving any cutting. gee i LOVE baking. only if i love satistic half as much as i love baking.
