3rd week at Penang General Hospital
my second posting at PGH is at the neurology department. it is good, i get to see a lot of stroke patients, and also patients with headaches, dizziness and epilepsy. it feels so good when what i've learnt actually correlates with what i do. so i am happy =). and i have to say this, neurology is so much more relaxing in comparison to surgical ward! i am not saying that it's easy but it definitely less hectic and stressful. but i still LOVE surgery though =)
and and and
i got to do something BIG yesterday! guess what guess what?
i took blood from a patient!!!!!!!!

and i know what you are thinking! PGH put their patient's life at stake. it is NOT like that. i was well thought and closely supervised. i have been watching doctors taking blood for the past 2 weeks and i KNOW what to do. and the patient whom i took blood from has nice big basilic vein so it was actually quite easy. i got it on my
first try! how about that? so PGH is still safe okay.

and i actually started off 'learning' to take blood by helping to transfer blood into blood collection tubes and label them :p
blue for PT/ APTT/ INR
purple for FBC
green for buse/cr and LFT
grey for FLP
black for ESR
and i dunno what orange and red tubes are for o.O
will find out tomorrow

i am loving my job :D
