of ferntree gully and placements

so i went to Ferntree Gully today for my very first sem 5 clinical placement. It was okay, the doctor was very friendly and helpful, and we got to see a wide range of patients, chronic fatigue syndrome, skin tag removal, a little girl with warts and otitis media, patient with autoimmune disease (Crohn's + asthma + psoariasis ahtritis + ulcerative colitis) yes she's got it all, and lots and lots of patients with depression. I never know that the prevalance of depression is actually that high. well, forgive my ignorance, i am a very happy girl :) and we discover a trend, depressed patients do not look depress at all, in fact, it was the non depressed patients who look depressed. interesting huh?
My placement was quite relaxing, we didn't interview patients, let alone doing case summary and examining patients. But i guess that there wasn't much thing to do to begin with so i am contented =). The doctor was so organized and medical student friendly, she explained everything very thoroughly. it's sad we din have any procedures happening today ;)
oh and have i told you that Ferntree Gully only has a population of 23,000 ++? it's less than the number of students we have in Melbourne Uni. and when you go to places like this, this is what you see. (or more accurately, don't see)
*
Upper Ferntree Gully Railway Station
it was 5.20 p.m.
i was waiting for the train heading back to the city
and the platform was barren
i would have been eaten by the wolf and no one will know.
*
and even if there was people around, you'd rather there wasn't any.
*
i was waiting at the bus station for the bus to the railway station and there was this bunch of young-rockstar-wannabes with piercingssssss and stuffs asking me "hey, do you sell weed?"
hey kiddo, do i look like some dodgy drug dealer? don't you know that smoking weed increases your risk of developing Schizophrenia? well you probably don't =.=
*
and what did i do?
RUN. not literally of course but i walked 20 minutes along some busy highway looking like a freak just to stay away from them. but well, i'd rather looking like a freak than hanging around some weed-smoking-teenagers *shiver*
*
i was lucky the train arrived after a short while and finally i was on my way back to civilization.
see i was heading towards the light
i took some random shot along the way
and i realized i hadn't taken any photos of ME
*
so i took a photo of my
S.H.O.E.S
it's black and boring but this pair of shoes and I have been through a lot of things together *tears*
*
and it feels so good to be back to places that you are familiar with
i know i am not the kind of adventurous people!
*
oh and the best part of the trip?
*
THIS

did you see what i see????

YESH! THIS ONE! i was so so so tempted to check that place out but i was too chicken to leave the bus stop because if i miss that bus, i need to wait for another half an hour for another one. BUT for sure i will go back! in 2 weeks time! HURRAY!

*

this is a worth while trip after all!

*

HAPPY WEDNESDAY PEOPLE!

*

P.S. i am sleepy. i woke up at 6.30 this morning. or maybe i have chronic fatigue syndrome
