50th AMSA Convention - Take 2
Sunday - Last Day in Brisbane
Being the very keen Convention Delegates that we were, Mel and me booked our flight ticket back in April, waaaaaaay before the schedule of AMSA convention was out. As a result, we had no idea when the convention was going to end. and since accomodation was included for Saturday night, we ASSUMED that there was going to be some program on Sunday itself and we further ASSUMED that if there was going to be any activities, it would finish probably at 5, so it would be just nice if we take the 9 p.m. flight from Brisbane to Melbourne. Nice plannig, good timing, cheap air flight. we were delighted. and of course, the only thing that we didn't know was that the Convention actually ended on Saturday, so, we have an entire Sunday to kill. in Brisbane. a quiet, kind off laid back city (base on my definition anyway). and trust me. a day is a lot.

our first stop was
Brisbane Muzeum
*shut up u people out there, we are geeky in our own way*
and thanks mel for making me look so tall. xoxoafter some rather boring yet informative tour around the muzeum, we headed off to the clock tower.
in a very ancient looking lift

and oh we came across this telephone booth and u can see that mel is determined to get in there.
and then we took another even ancient-er lift to the top of the tower
sounds boring? that's the way it was. it's a muzeum remember? but i am a pretty boring person too. so i kinda enjoyed it. hehe
the clock tower is (if i am not mistaken) 90m tall.
and i think it's time for them to clean the glasses already.
don't you think so?
and of course this is the bell. (duh)and it rings every 15 minutes and acocrding to the guide, it's nth compared to the big bang (duh duh)
view from above
and mel looks like an angel sent from above in this pic. credit to the *ahem* :P
photographer*
after that we walked along some street (okay i forgot the name) and came across the Memorial Shrine
and a pretty nice church on the way
oh and see, New York and Manhattan at down town Brisbane
next to China Town actually
and for some reason i find this amusing. i know i know, i have a unique sense of humour.
and being the train lover that she is, mel lured me into taking a train from China town to South bank and melbbie pls dun complain, the trains in melbourne are so much newer and cleaner than those in brisbane. so are the stations. and and and there is no tram in brisbane at all and you know why? apparently in the early 1950s ( i think), there was a fire and around 60% of the tram tracks were destroyed. hence the government decided to ditch the trams and go with buses. no kidding.*
anyway after visiting China Town @ Brisbane, (why is there China Town EVERYWHERE?) it was around 2 and i was suddenly very VERY hungry despite the fact that i had a huge breakfast in the morning, obviously mel was not hungry, so i decided to get myself a triple chocolate icecream. *grin* who cared, i had my ball yesterday, there is nth to be worried about anymore. hehe
and that book worm go herself a magazine *shhhhh**
next stop -- GOMA
Gallery of the Modern Arts.oh and the art work there was awesome (as if i know anything about arts)
but i personally think that their resting lounge is even awesome-r :D
i am lazy that way :)
*after spending a solid 2 hrs in the gallery, we walked around the city, drank some freshly squeezed sugar free fruit juice, went to the casino and heck it was only 5 p.m.
so we settled on a garden (of a very expensive hotel), chit chatting away, watching the sunset (not really), and waiting for time for dinner. it was a relaxing day. seriously.*
and so that was our last day in Brisbane. it was a nice wonderful trip. and of course, my awesome travel buddy that make everything better and more enjoyable ;)
