Brownie Mosaic Cheesecake
i have always wanted to make cheesecake, even though i don like cheese at all. force me to eat a slice of cheese, i will give you some stomach acid and bile in return. i am not kidding. anyway, i made my very first cheesecake in Sem 2 2007 and i got my recipe from Mel. it was a non-baked-cheesecake-with-oreo-crust-and-strawberries-toppings and it was a hit. *u just have to trust me when i say so* Since then, i have been looking for a decent yet challenging cheesecake recipe that REQUIRE baking - just because i have an oven now :P a relatively lousy one though =.=
and 2 weeks ago, i stumbled across this recipe by Smitten Kitchen and i immediately fell in love with it *admiring sigh*
Brownie Mosaic Cheesecake
it is called that because there are little cubes of brownies amidst the cream cheese mix and they form some sort of checker box shape when you slice the cake. Brilliant isn't it!
I made the crust with chocolate teddy bears and some ripple chocolate cookies. no more oreo this time because i wouldn't want to chuck away the icing away and only god knows what i am going to do with them/what they are going to do to me o.O
then, I made the cream cheese filling.
have i told you that my hand mixer somehow decided to die on me?
maybe i have overworked it.
may be he had a fight with my adaptor.
or may be he doesn't like cheese just like me.
or maybe he is angry because i lent him to jacq without asking his permission :p
but my point is, i had to beat 24 oz of creamcheese manually with a whisker until 'it's fluffy'. it wasn't fun o.O

okay, back to the cake, pour half of the creamcheese batter into the springform pan
then throw *i mean gently place* some yummilicious brownies into the sea of cheese
pour in the remaining cheese mix and brownies and you will end up with
brownies swimming in the cheese
bake them in the oven *duh*
and trust me, u need a springform baking mould.
you HAVE TO, i mean MUST, MUST MUST use that
if u want to end up having something like this.
have i stressed it enough?
*
then, to cover up the ugly looking darken uneven moon-like surface, make ur ganache
i know it looks disgusting, but hey, i dun have a food processor. do you want to get me one? *blink blink* i promise u a life long supply of homebake goodies? deal????
*
and people, chocolate topping is to cake what makeup foundation is to women
it covers every bits of bumps and lumps and make ur face smooth and shine.
and make u more delicious, more inviting, more sought after, more seductive ... u get the idea ;)
gosh tell me this is not irresistable! *gosh i am liking this double negative thingy*
*
HAPPY MONDAY PEOPLE!
*
P.S. and the reason why it's not quite there yet is, my cake was a bit uncooked in the middle. NEXT TIME, i will do it properly.
