of ice cream and cake

it has been a while since I baked something. Clinical school has been pretty busy. and with the very heavy weighted exam coming up in 13 weeks, busy is an understatement. But it is fun nonetheless. I know I am learning something new, something important each day. so everything is good :) only if I could survive with less sleep, THAT would be even better.

Back to baking, or i shall say assembling -

we celebrated Jacq's and Jasper's bday yesterday and I somehow ended up making their birthday cake. I decided on Ice-cream cake because it's something different, something new, something you would like to have in summer and most importantly - something foolproof :P

or so i thought

the only thing that went wrong with the cake was the decoration part. I was too impatient to wait for the ice-cream to freeze and settle properly before i put all the fruits on (to my defense, it was pretty close to bedtime). and as a result of my sleep deprivation and hence lack of judgment, the next morning when i woke up, all my fruits sank and were submerged in the sea of icecream =.= it wasn't a pretty sight.

lesson of the day: when the recipe says wait until the icecream is completely frozen, you WAIT.

but everything turned out ok, with a trip to the supermarket for more fruits and a little bit of patching up

mission accomplished

no drama :)

i am starting my cardiorespiratory block next. ECG here i come!

I am 22

So I turned 22 yesterday. i am officially one year wiser :) I spent the weekend with sis and friends, went to my favorite pasta/ pizza place and had a good time with my dearest friends. Thank you people for your lovely sms and facebook messages. they definitely made my day :)

and thanks to my fabulous girl friends for organizing everything, you know who you are. and i am really sorry for the 1.5 hr queue before dinner. i had no idea the wait would be THAT long.

hope you guys enjoyed dinner, i sure did!

coincidentally, i received multiple bees related pressies. Well i think this is a sign - I am expecting a very hectic and busy 4 months ahead of me.

which is kinda exciting and daunting at the same time.

oh and that cook book! i lurve it to bits!

and sis kindly cooked us dinner and did the cleaning up today, which was very nice of her. dinner was nice :)

and thanks my revision buddy for the muffin. that's very nice of her too.

more baking =D

i've been doing a LOT of baking recently

can't you tell that i am at heaven? *grin*

low fat banana bread

and seeing that mum accidentally bought way too many oranges, i decided to do something with them

personally i don't quite like orange flavoured food, may it be candy, cookies, muffins, ice cream, cakes, juices hence i don't have much orange recipe. this is the only one that seems appealing

but the outcome is much more better than what i've expected, i love the texture

and the glittering coating and crunchy walnuts too~~~

we went to watch twilight yesterday

yesh! premiere class!

and if you think i am crazy

look at them!

they deliberately BLOCKED bella off the view =.=

don't throw my rotten tomatoes

but the movie is such a HUGE HUGE HUGE disappointment!!!!
really! seriously! honestly!

whoever screenplay the novel should be sentenced to lethal injection =.=

but i still love the book and edward cullen (not robert pattinson!)

neway, got to catch up with some of my high school buddies :D so everything is all good!

good girls gone wild

so we went to karoke last thursday and it was A.W.E.S.O.M.E. nothing is better than hanging out with your dearest girl friends after exam and sing like there is no tomorrow. so sad rachel couldn't join us because she is already in singapore ;) and i have to say that ai lynn has huge TLC (total lung capacity for non med =P ya right, go ahead and call me nerd, sis) ai lynn can sing!!! it was so much fun i couldn't possibly put them into words. and the thing is, being the dodgy asians we are, we went there at 12 midnight and sang until 3! how cool was that?! i was surprised that mum actually let me go! thank you mum! *kisses*

that is the fun of it! only for the one who is singing though. do you realize i was holding a mike in every S.I.N.G.L.E photo *blush blush* next time, dun go to karoke with me =p haha...

and see, they have this little 'shower cap' for the mike. how thoughtful

so i am really tired, especially after spending a freaking 6 hours doing my Patient Under the Microscope O.o that was insane so i reward myself with a little break. Do the test my dear friends. I am giving you a very good excuse to not do your work for a while =P

easter @ bismi

i said that i am going to catch up with the pies during the easter, so i did =D we sent to bismi on Sunday because sis missed their authentic spicy cuisine and their roti BOM *yum yum* and it was a sunday, so being the cheap dodgy asians that we are, we travel as far as we can for our dinner XD (ok, not that far)

and the thing wa, being in the very-Indi- environment with bollywood music banging at the background, we couldn't resist but to imitate russel peter's slength and joke through out the dinner. " your mother so fat, when she jump for joy, she got stuck!" -- this is our favourite one =D we had a good laugh of course, but we were also very careful to not let those waiters haer what we said or else "somebody's gonna hurt REAL BAD."

Happy Birthday Jacqueline and Jasper

Happy 20th B'day to Jasper

today is Jacq and Jasper birthday and we had a mini celebration at Jasper's place (which is super nice i have to say) Before I picked Jacq up from her place, i met up with rach around 12 to pass her the cake and some balloons. After that, i met up with jacq and we walked all the way to southbank and met up with rach again. By the time, everyone else was already at andrew's place which is in the same building as Jasper and after a few minutes of rach-picking-up-endless-phonecalls-and-trying-to-unsuccessfully-buzzing-open-the-doors, the celebration began!

i baked Jacq's pineapple upsidedown cake while mel baked jasper's double choc cheesecake. i have to admit that Jacq's cake is the ugliest cake i've ever baked, sorry Jacqueline, the oven and the miserable mixer i have here is not as good as those i have back home ;) shall you visit me in penang, i will bake you a really nice one!

P.S. Pies (namely Jess, Janet, Ai Ming and Sis) are going to Grumpian (whichever way you spelll it) tomorrow. I won be going cause it is kinda of a last minute thing and i had already decided to go to Pamela's 21st. i feel like a left out kid now, i have been missing a lot of pies activities lately *sob sob* oh well, i will try to make it up during this holiday and the first thing i am going to do is to fry them nuggets for their trip. they have to be at commerce comp lab at 7.30 tomorrow morning, meaning sis need to walk there latest at 7.15, meaning u have to wake up at 6.30 @_@. anyway, for the pies, i shall sacrifice my sleep. have fun people!

P.P.S Melissa made me brownies today!!! they are so so so nice! thank you so much mel, i LOVE you and your brownies. and i am so sorry you burnt you hand. Kelvin is to one be blamed =P thanks ya mel!

Janet was here

Janet came to Penang a few days ago and we had a lot of fun! just so you know, it was the first time me and sis get to go out by ourself without mom accompanying us from 9 a.m. -- 10.45p.m. that was a big leap ^^
