of strawberries and strawerries and more strawberries

i love fruits in my cakes. all kinds of fruits, berries, banana, grapes, apple, pear, orange, lemon, coconut and even durian (only on one occasion alright, okay maybe two. okay fine, FIVE!) i just LOVE the color and the smell, and the fact that fruit cake is on the slight healthier range compared to say triple chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting influences my decision a little :P

P.S. i am not a health conscious freak.

Proof: i dun do any exercise

*

as much as i love using fruits, there are a few downsides of baking with them:

  1. fruits are not always in season
  2. waiting for fruit to ripe is a very torturing process and u will sometimes ended up baking some tasteless banana cake because u used half rippen bananas to bake because u can't wait
  3. fruits are bloody expensive

so when i saw boxes of rippening fresh red huge juicy strawberries on sale, how could i resist getting myself some of these babies? how could i? how could anybody?

especially when they still have their pretty green leaves on

Photobucket
red and green make good contrast and pretty garnish. take my word for that. i will show you what i mean

*

i decided to make some strawberry milkshake cupcakes because i have loads of strawberries.
Photobucket
and because i have a blender
Photobucket
and because i have some left over sour cream that i have to get rid of :p
Photobucket
blend 400g of strawberries, 1/2 cup of sour cream and 1 cup of sugar together
Photobucket
and u will end up with a batch of fresh yummylicious starwberry milkshake.

and now people, this is the important part.

this is what distinguish a better baker from a mediocre baker.

u have 2 choices.

u can either start sipping the milkshake, keep on sipping and sipping and sipping until all the milkshake is gone and u have no choice but to abandon ur plan to bake

OR

u will, with all your will power, resist the temptation to gallop down the milk shake and proceed with ur plan and ended up with sth like this :)

miniature cupcakes

and a dozen more ordinary size cupcakes

this is when you know you PASS!

now this is the fun part.

you would need 2/3 of the milkshake to be incorperated into your cake batter so u have 1/3 leftover. simple enough? drizzle the remaining 1/3 on your cupcakes and get creative! and if u r stingy enough, u will ended up with half a cup of milkshake that u can do anything u like with it.

kit kat is an easy way out
Photobucket
and it looks pretty too>.<

u just have to appreciate how useful and important chocolates are.
*
half the
recipe u dun want to end up with as many cupcakes as i did
Photobucket
trust me, it's a wise move

*

oh and i went to the International Commerce Ball yesterday night

here is a sneak peek of my next post
Photobucket
dun worry, it won be me all over the place.

there are 3 more pretty ladies.
