of Wedding Anniversary and Changes Over Time
Exactly a year ago, i posted this entry.I shall not elaborate any further, but I would just like to wish my parents a
Congratulations for making it this far dad and mum! you guys make us proud =) and i think i know exactly how both of you are going to celebrate - hearty home cook meal and daddy coming home for dinner. You two are simple and hence simply awesome that way. love you lots!
and just for fun (yea i am using any excuse to not write my thesis, bite me >.<) i would like to demonstrate how people's priorities and planning for their future have changed over time. (sounds very academic, no?)
when my parents were 19, they started dating each other.
when i was 19, i was in 2nd year medicine, i volunteered for Unicef, was the secretary of IMSS, had a 4 weeks hospital attachment at Penang General Hospital, and never dated.
my parents got married when they were 24.
By the time i am 24, i would be (hopefully) doing my internship, spending most of my time seeing patients, learning skills and stuffs that they forgot to teach/ i forgot to learnt/ that i learnt and forgotten in med school. and never dated.
my parents had their first child when they were 25.
By the time i am 25, i would be (hopefully, finger crossed) a resident, spending ALL of my time in the hospital, revising skills that i have acquired during my intern year. (There is a reason why a resident is called a resident you see, they literally LIVE in the hospital - or so i heard). and never dated.
my parents had their second child when they were 26.
By the time i am 26, I would be (hopefully, finger crossed, ideally) a registrar. cutting people open, prescribing medication, treating the sick, treating the depressed, treating trauma, treating the vain. the possibilities are endless. and never dated.
my parents started earning money from their own business by the time they were 27 (i think).
By the time i am 27, I would still be a registrar, cutting people open. prescribing medication, treating the sick, the depressed, trauma, the vain, i might be more certain on what i want to do by then. but then still subsidized by my parents. and never dated.
my parents had their 3rd kid when they were 30.
By the time i am 30, I would be (hopefully, finger crossed, ideally, optimistically) finish my specialist training. being able to support myself financial. and still never dated.
Both my parents are 46 years old this year. They have a family, a home and a business.
By the time i am 46, i don't know what i would be like. it's a pretty scary thought.
but you get the idea.
okie dokie, it's time for me to stop thinking what my life would be like in the future but live my life in the present.
