bad luck and bad people
seen this image before? yea, my buddy has paid me another visit recently. this time, i sliced my thumb while zesting a lemon yesterday night and just now, i spilt a whole bottle of pasta cream sauce of my CLEAN kitchen tile floor. wonder what is going to happen next =.=and in addition to that, i met a couple of sucky people today. one is a pharmacist, another is a post office worker. Once enrolled in the medical course, we're required to perform an annual police check. you know, just to prove that we haven't done anything bad over the past year and that we are not a pervert or child molester and stuff like that. well i have no problem doing the check at all but the thing is, the government has just changed the law recently which require the applicants to have their copies of ID certified by a "Professional" i.e. doctors, pharmacist e.t.c. And being a medical student doesn't necessarily mean that you have a doctor friend do you? OK I DON'T HAVE ONE, so i took my ID to the be verified by the pharmacist at the pharmacy in Uni. I went there at 4.15p.m. right after my tutorial and was told to go back in another 15-20 minutes because "the pharmacist is busy right now" (he was standing at the counter, back facing the entrance, doing nothing in particular and he was busy, i understand that). and so i hung around uni and went back in 20 minutes. i gave them my photocopied ID, original on top and photocopied below and waited. and waited, and waited. and waited. and waited. they have 3 people working in the Pharmacy and there was one customer, and the Pharmacist was still too busy. Pharmacists are busy. I get it. and after 10 minutes or so, the very-busy Pharmacist finally managed to squeeze some time out of his busy schedule to put down 2 signatures, 3 stamping, one date and the word P.H.A.R.M.A.C.I.S.T on my application, and threw (i mean literally) my passport and student ID on the counter. very reluctantly. what's all those attitude about? i really don't get it.
then i went to the post office to get my money order for my police check. another frustrating experience.
"Hey good evening. I would like to do my police check."
"oh we don't do this anymore."
"I have filled in the details. all i need is my money order"
"you see you walked up and acted as if i know everything. i don't. u need to tell me what you want."
"oh ok, can i have the money order for my police check please?" at that point i was already very shocked and confused
"how much do you want?"
"hold on a second. Is it $13.50?" flipping through my 6 pages document
"I don't know, it should be in there somewhere." yea right you don't know. i bet you do at least 10 of these everyday. can't you just fcuking tell me the amount and save me some trouble. bugger
"does $14.00 sound familiar?"
"that's alright. I will check it out and come back later/" annoyed but still smiling
"oh, we are closing in 15 mins"
not a good friday for me. but at least i've got my form submitted at last. after two shitty encounters with 2 middle age-probably experiencing mid-life-crisis-individuals.
